Sarah Robinson
Khari Wheeler works tirelessly to promote ethical practices and responsible citizenship in political arenas and the general public, and is the designer behind the Public Safety theme. Mr. Wheeler is a 13-year, highly decorated veteran of the Detroit Fire Department and has worked to serve the greater community and keep it safe. He has served as President of Detroit’s Black Firefighter Organization and President of Young Democrats of Michigan. Mr. Wheeler holds an associates degree from Wayne County Community College, has attended Thomas Edison State College and Wayne State University Law School. Khari works diligently to build brighter futures in the City of Detroit and the State of Michigan. Other organizations to which he has contributed his time and energy include NAACP, DraftObama.org, Precinct Delegate, US 14th Congressional District Parliamentarian and a District Commissioner for the Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Wheeler is also a dedicated husband and father of four.
Michael D. Mendez brings an impressive record of local and state political experience to the Detroit Public Safety Academy board. He most recently served as the chief liaison for Governor Jennifer M. Granholm for political groups located in southern and southwestern Wayne County (Downriver), Washtenaw, Monroe, and Lenawee counties, and southwest Detroit. Mr. Mendez is the elected president of the Wayne State University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Alumni Association and board member for Leadership Next, and United Way Southwest Michigan. He holds a B.A. from Wayne State University in political science with a minor in history.
Sarah L. Robinson is a life-long Detroit resident with deep roots in the community. Attorney Robinson is a prefect blend of professional educator and legal expert. Ms. Robinson graduated from Western International High School in 1991 and went on to receive her B.A. in English and B.S. in biology from Wayne State University. She was a math and science teacher at Munger Middle School in Southwest Detroit. In 1991 she received her J.D. and is today a practicing juvenile attorney. Ms. Robinson understands the importance of young people staying in school and out of the juvenile justice system.
